How to Annotate a Paystub for Court or Applications
Published 11/21/2025
Annotating a paystub helps reviewers quickly verify income, pay periods, and employer details. This guide shows how to add notes, highlight entries, and watermark a PDF copy so it is ready for court filings, rentals, or HR requests.
Steps
- Open the Paystub Annotator tool.
- Upload your paystub PDF (no server upload occurs—processing stays in your browser).
- Add annotations for the lines you need to call out, such as net pay, pay period, or employer contact.
- Choose an optional highlight color to place behind each note so reviewers can scan faster.
- Toggle the Verified Copy watermark if you want a faint stamp across the first page.
- Download the PDF. The notes appear on the first page in evenly spaced positions.
What to include in annotations
- Pay period date range and pay date
- Gross pay, deductions, and net pay callouts
- Year-to-date totals that support the claim
- Employer contact or HR confirmation note
- Any statement about attached exhibits or supporting documents
FAQs
Will my paystub be stored or uploaded?
No. The annotator runs entirely in the browser and returns the PDF directly to you.
Can I choose not to highlight the annotations?
Yes. Select "No highlight" for the highlight color and only the text overlays will appear.
Does the watermark say anything besides "Verified Copy"?
The tool uses a light gray "Verified Copy" watermark. Leave the toggle off if you do not need it.
